How we work

Our process

The same sequence is followed on a one-room job and on a hotel floor. Skipping a stage is how finishes fail early.

    Measurement and shade selection

    Every panel measured on site and the laminate catalogue brought to you. Shade numbers are recorded on the quote so a later repair matches.

  2. 2

    Substrate preparation

    Plywood or MDF checked for level and moisture. A laminate stuck on an uneven or damp substrate will bubble at the joints within months.

  3. 3

    Cutting and dry fitting

    Sheets cut oversize and dry-fitted so joints fall where they are least visible — behind a shutter line rather than across an open panel face.

  4. 4

    Bonding

    Contact adhesive applied to both faces, flashed off, then rolled down. Pressure across the whole sheet is what prevents lifting at corners.

  5. 5

    Edge banding and trimming

    Machine edge-banding on exposed edges, then trimming and buffing so the edge reads as a single piece rather than a stuck-on strip.

  6. 6

    Hardware refit and clean-up

    Handles, hinges and channels refitted, adhesive residue cleaned off, shutters aligned so gaps are even.

What affects the price

We do not publish a single rate, because two jobs of the same size can differ by a wide margin. These are the factors that actually move the number on a quotation.

Laminate grade
Standard 0.8 mm laminate, high-gloss and acrylic sheets differ substantially in material cost.
Edge treatment
Machine edge-banding on all exposed edges costs more than a basic strip but is what stops edges lifting.
Substrate condition
Old furniture needing stripping and levelling before bonding adds preparation time.
Panel size and joint count
Many small panels take more cutting and fitting labour than a few large ones of the same total area.

Lamination — frequently asked questions

Can old furniture be re-laminated instead of replaced?
Usually yes, if the carcass is sound and not water-damaged. The old laminate is stripped, the substrate levelled and the new sheet bonded. It costs far less than new furniture and takes a fraction of the time.
Which is better for a kitchen — laminate or acrylic?
Acrylic gives a deeper high-gloss finish and resists yellowing, so it looks better in a display kitchen. Standard laminate is tougher against knocks and cheaper to repair panel by panel. For a working kitchen used heavily every day, laminate is often the more practical choice.
Why do laminate edges lift after a year or two?
Almost always one of three reasons — hand-applied edge strips instead of machine edge-banding, insufficient pressure at bonding, or a damp substrate. We machine-band exposed edges and roll the sheet under pressure across its full face.
Do you bring the shade catalogue to my home?
Yes. Choosing a laminate under a showroom light and then seeing it in your own flat rarely works. We bring the catalogue on site so you pick the shade in the actual light it will live in, and we record the shade code on the quote for future repairs.
